Workers’ Compensation Claims in a Virtual World

Sadow & Froy COVID-19

Many law firms struggled with the transition from a physical workplace to a virtual office when the Covid-19 pandemic struck. However, at Sadow & Froy, our transition has been seamless. Our entire office was well prepared to work remotely. Even in the face of a new reality, we have not skipped a beat in terms of efficiency or advocating for our workers’ compensation clients. Let’s face it, the world today is a very different place than it was six months ago. Although we are operating on all cylinders zealously advocating for the injured workers of Georgia, as expected, we are still seeing some delays in responsiveness of insurance companies to the needs of injured workers.

The State Board of Workers’ Compensation was at a standstill for several months after the Georgia Supreme Court issued an order suspending in-person hearings. This order provided workers’ compensation insurance companies with an additional layer of defense when they improperly denied injured workers the benefits that they are entitled to under Georgia law. The insurance companies were fully aware that delays in getting cases to court would force injured workers to settle their claims far too soon.  We refused to submit to these delay tactics and we continued to advocate for our clients with motions and conference calls with Administrative Law Judges. This ensured that our clients’ rights were protected.

Luckily, the Order banning in person hearings has now been lifted and claims are moving forward to hearings if necessary.  Consequently, delays have been reduced and in-person hearings as well as Zoom hearings are now available. At Sadow & Froy, we believe it is imperative that we continue to press insurance companies to make sure that they are not taking advantage of the pandemic. We will not tolerate allowing them to avoid providing injured workers with the appropriate medical care and weekly income benefits that they are so deserving of. Our number one priority is to continue to fight for the rights of injured workers across the state of Georgia and get them every benefit that they deserve.

Sadow & Froy represents clients with workers’ compensation legal concerns in the Atlanta metro area and throughout the State of Georgia.
